1         Introduction:

This project is about the Decision making - leadership styles in the Organization. This topic is keen interesting for me as decision making is the critical element of any organization and every leadership decision has very deep effect on the organization. Our organization leaders have different styles for the decision making and I want to analyze them under leadership style approach.

Leadership decisions are always significant effect on the organizations. Different leaders have different leadership styles; in this project I am analyzing the styles of leadership in my organization. This will also help to understand the different levels of leadership with their leadership styles.

2         Definition and Description of the Topic:

2.1       Decision Making Style:

The style that is used by the managers and leader based on their personality, situation, and organization’s culture, characteristics of the people with working and the nature of the decision.

Following are the decision making styles.

·         Autocratic:  In this style of decision making, leader takes the decision without consulting the others as he has sufficient information.

·         Information Seeking: Leader gets the input from others regarding the information without telling the problem and then analyzes and takes the decision.

·         Consultation: To provide the information or task to individual and group of peoples for survey or investigation and provide the recommendations and on the basis of their recommendation he can make the decision.

·         Negotiation: Leader explains the situation and group and provides the relevant information, together they attempt to reconcile the differences and negotiate a solution that is acceptable for all parties.

·         Delegation:  Responsibility and authority are given to a group or individual and provide the relevant information; he should not force his decision and should accept the solution.

3         Data and Results

A questionnaire is prepared for the collection of data to analyze the Decision –Making leadership style in my organization. Questionnaire is given to top managers about their decision making.

Following is the result of data collection it shows the percentage of leadership is following the Decision making styles.

Following is the graphical representation of data analysis.

As per the data collection and after analysis it is shown that most of the leader adopted the Autocratic decision making style it means they are relaying on their own information and experience to take the decisions. All these type of leaders are experience and have sufficient knowledge for decision making.

Then Consultation and Negotiation Decision making styles are followed by the leaders. As they are making the decisions by consulting others and they are making decision by negotiating the peoples when it is required for decision making.

Then leaders seek the information decision making approach to take the decision. In this style of approach they discussed the issues with other peoples to get the information.

In decision making styles the styles that is lesser used by the leaders are the delegation, in this approach managers or leaders delegates their powers to others to take the decision. In our organization managers is not delegating their decision making rights to others as they wants to keeps the powers with themselves.

4         Summary and Conclusions

·         To summarize and conclude, most of the leaders are using autocratic style of decision making while they are making the decisions.

·         Consultation and Negotiation style is also followed by the managers and leaders as they are consulting and discussion the issue with the employees before taking the decision.

·         Some leaders are also using the information seeking style of decision making.

·         Delegation style of decision making is used by very less number of leaders and managers.

5         Recommendations

On the basis of data collection and data analysis, it is recommended that managers and leaders should use the information seeking, consultation and negotiations style of leadership then the autocratic style of decision making. Although many leaders are already using these style but if they use this style approach it will increase the effectiveness and efficiency of their decisions.
